Doug joined RECA as a real estate practice advisor in March 2012. With 36 years’ of real estate experience and 15 years’ practice as an associate and broker, Doug has seen it all within the industry. Before joining RECA, he was Executive Officer for the Nova Scotia Real Estate Association and spent 14 years as the registrar for the Nova Scotia Real Estate Commission.

Description: Consumers benefit from a strong working relationship between their real estate professional and their mortgage broker. Join Doug Dixon and Gary Siegle as they discuss real estate professionals’ expectations of mortgage brokers and vice versa. You’ll learn what industry professionals can share with, and expect from, each other. You'll also gain insight into client consent to share information and consequences when industry professionals cross the line into another sector.

Become more familiar with the role of mortgage professionals;
Acceptable professional behaviour between real estate professionals and mortgage brokers;
 When is it OK to accept a fee for a referral to a mortgage professional;
 Under what circumstances do real estate professionals require a licence to deal in mortgages to accept referral fees; and
 Regulatory requirements affecting both real estate and mortgage professionals.
